Grogan was celebrated for his colonial achievements, including important public works in Kenya, but was a controversial figure even in his own time. It was sold in 1897 to the noted British adventurer, big-game hunter and Imperialist Ewart Grogan. Built in 1888, it is one of the largest production game rifles ever made in Britain. This enormous double-barrelled 4-bore rifle is a Royal Model, made by the famous London gunmakers Holland & Holland.
